Other than simply privacy and protection, there are many reasons why investing in home window tinting film is a valuable idea. It reduces the fading of property and the glare found on television and computer screens. Tinting also allows one to enjoy the entertainment found in their home, without having to close the blinds. Minimizing the amount of sun that passes through a window, this product makes a home significantly more comfortable while cutting energy costs.

There are four factors that categorize how home window tinting film is sold. The reflective nature of the film is a universal property that comes in a variety of forms. There are metalized and non-metalized types, which come in a range of colors from light to dark. The level of privacy sought-after will determine which kind of reflection is best. The amount of harmful UV rays rejected by the film is the second factor. The standard rate of rejection is 96%. However, there are higher performance brands that block up to 99% of UV radiation. The third factor in determining which product suits a customer best is the level of tinting. This is established based on the percentage of visible light transmitted (VLT) through the product. For instance, if the film is labeled 35 VLT, then 35% of visible light can pass through the surface onto which the product is adhered. The type of adhesive used to apply the product is the final determining factor. A dry adhesive is required for residential use, which is more convenient due to its forgiving nature.

One can determine how much window tinting their home will need by simply measuring the dimensions of the window and leaving an additional 1/16 of an inch. This will ensure that the entire surface is covered.
